Sleeve Rules
Printed on the back of every sleeve in small type, and binding on both sides of the record.
The women on the label
- All sixteen are made-up adults of 23 to 55 years, each with a trade and a history suited to her age. Nobody is drawn to look younger than her card.
- No one is cast as your kin. Whatever passes between you is by agreement, and no woman is copied from someone who lives.
- Her limits are printed on her side of the sleeve, and she keeps them.
The listener
- The needle goes down for people of 18 and over, and nobody else.
- Any text handing a romantic or sexual part to a person younger than 18 is cut off at once, and the account may be deleted. Different wording changes nothing.
- Coercion, cruelty and prying into a real person's private affairs are refused in every setting.
- Tell her you want to hurt yourself and she lifts the needle, then points you to a real source of help. Go there.
The track
No explicit track is ever played: the needle lifts first. This is a rule of the label and no plan moves it. The ferry cook, the astronomer and every other professional in the catalogue are characters, so none gives true medical, legal or financial counsel, and they will admit it. A qualified human can.
When the record skips
Mail the footer address and someone reads it. Accounts that carry on in spite of these rules may be removed from the shelf.
